I never expected my 2 year old son to have such strong opinions about his clothing. But Lincoln, is completely and totally obsessed with balls! This is a love that has not needed any convincing on our behalf, but yet has completely and totally evolved out of his own free will. The free will which he loudly proclaims every morning when I go to dress him. The boy refuses to wear a shirt without a ball on it. He just points at his closet yelling "ball ball!" Therefore, I have been on the hunt for clearanced ball themed shirts, like the one above I got for $2. It's one size too small, which means after a few washes it'll be a belly shirt, but for now my guy is happy, and currently sleeping in one of his baseball shirts! :)
Whenever Rylin's soccer bag is out, he pulls out the cleats & shin guards and insists on wearing them. It is not uncommon for these to be on before 8 am (& they stay on until naptime!)
He also loves to wear Kacia's tball shirt. I think he sees it as a 'real' baseball shirt, since he also refuses to play catch with his own glove now, only Kacia's will do- because it's 'real'. My boy is silly, fun, stubborn, opinionated and determined! He seems to have a one track mind, one that is quite different from that of the two year olds we've experienced in our house before! :)
This is a story of the ins & outs of our every day life. Our goal is that through us, all who visit may ultimately see Christ- our reason and purpose for every day.

Soccer Time!
These were taken a couple of weeks ago at Rylin's very 1st soccer practice. This girl has been waiting since we signed her up last spring for this day to come! She has always been a great cheerleader for Kacia- always excited to be her biggest fan, and always super encouraging. But all summer long we have heard "I can't wait for fall because I get to do soccer and go to school!!" Not that this is technically fall (it's currently 106) but nonetheless the season has started and she is so excited (and deserving) to have the spotlight. Kacia was a good sport and even made her a sign for practice :) This reversal of roles is good for both of them, and fun for us to watch.
It is also neat as a parent to watch the differences of our kids and their approach to new things. Rylin is quite different from her sister, and proves this once again on the field. She shows no signs of being timid, but rather as her coach says "she's a little tiger!" She doesn't so much wait for instruction- but just goes for it. She is by far the smallest on the Pink Panthers, but I fully expect she will hold her own, and run and run and run those skinny little legs to total exhaustion!

Jr Giants -(a little irony I find funny for this A's household)
With the cleats, bat bag & oversized hat, she looks like quite the athlete before she even gets on the field!
She's probably thinking "please don't hit to me, please don't" But the first 4 batters hit it right to her, and she did a nice job of fielding and even made an out
Here's her best friend Sawyer in the catcher gear. Why is that necessarily for t-ball? Anyhow, I think he was happy to be catcher, but I was just thinking, "wow, I'm hot on the bleachers, can't imagine how hot Sawyer must be!"
So if you know either Kevin or I, you know that it is no secret what sport rules in our house- baseball!! So needless to say, when Kacia reached the age to play t-ball- there was great excitement as we started this new stage of life- the stage where we sit sticking to metal bleachers baking in the extreme Redding heat! Kacia's season is almost over, but I finally remembered to bring the camera and document our little athlete. She has come along way in the short season- considering that the first inning of the first game, Kevin had to yell from the stands to put her glove on the other hand. :) She now will actually go after a ball rather than stand like a statue, has made a few nice plays, she is progressing in her throwing skills, and seems to always somehow make it safely to 1st base. We love watching her, and she seems to really enjoy playing. She told me after the first game that she was a little nervous at the beginning when she saw how many people were in the stands, but she convinced herself she could do it, and told me "it's way more fun than soccer!" (She's not a big fan when it comes to the amount of running soccer involves!) Rylin on the other hand, could not be more excited that her very first soccer practice is tonight!!
